Normally as the photographer, I don't get many pics of myself...but this time my husband volunteered to stay on the beach and snap some shots! It was a great day at Puaena Point :)
There's nothing like catching a great wave on a sunny day, looking at the picturesque mountains around me...I love living here!

Wave to the Camera!
This really sweet girl is here from Hong Kong and has a lesson everyday at 7 am! Whew! It's worth it though when you get to the beach and there are only the locals there and glassy waves :) It's my first day back after getting food poisoning :( but I even got to hop in and catch a few myself! So nice!

Family Bonding Time...
We were blessed by having a great family come to us to surf lessons! They were so encouraging and fun and we had a blast in and out of the water with them. This little guy got the wave of the day too! Way to go Isaac!!

This morning we were blessed with the presence of a special group...dolphins greeted us with twirls and spins as we prepared to enter the ocean for our morning surf lesson!
Check out this great drop that Scott got! We were highly impressed!
Man's best friend...this German Shepard was such a great beach companion! He waited for his owner on the beach until he started to paddle in. At the call of his master, this little pup went sprinting into the ocean until arriving at his master's board where he calmly proceeded to hot on for the ride in! So cute!
Sergio became the video man for this great wave!

Surfside Barber Shop
After a great day surfing on the south side at Ala Moana Bowls, the boys decided it was time for something fresh....and they started with their hair :) Sergio didn't tell them it was his first time actually using one of those little razors for anything other than a clean shave! It actually turned out great for the both of them! (surprisingly)

The Reef Rolls On...
Even though the ocean was the smoothest I have ever seen it early this morning...a few nice waves rolled on at Chun's Reef....making our early surf lesson possible! It's always so peaceful to be the only people out there..no wind...glassy waters...bliss :)

Sergio joined the North Shore Canoe club and will be training three days a week for the competitions starting May 29! He is making friends and gaining respect from the locals...this is key ;)

Fish Out of Water...
Since we have arrived here in Hawaii, Sergio has been dying to catch some fresh fish like he did in Noronha! He has felt out of place and "out of water" without being able to live off the land and eat wonderful seafood. Countless nights spent dreaming of Mahi Mahi on the line, or a big Ahi, have kept Sergio whirring and anxious. After several unsuccessful attempts to fish from the shore...Sergio's friend Ray bought a spear gun to catch "the big one". Today was the first day out...it was...well..semi-successful. We didn't quite catch "the big one"...but at least we caught something ;)

Surf Lesson Chun's Reef: Daddy Daughter Bonding Time
Today we got to spend the afternoon on Chun's Reef with this Daddy Daughter Duo. After a two day thunderstorm, there was finally a break in the weather and we got this opportunity to give a lesson during the calm after the storm. I eventually ended up melting in the sun..but it was worth it! Another pair left happy...DVD in hand and a smile on their faces :)

Adventures in Tow-In Surf...
I love the ocean...I love waves...but only when they are under four feet! So for the first time in my life I am facing my fear of big waves and photographing the tow-in adventures of the Surf Hawaii school! I must admit that at a few points I wanted BADLY to turn back...but in the end I learned a lot, faced my fear, and got some great shots! Worth it...
The start of something new...
Starting your own business can be kind of intimidating...but not doing what you love for the rest of your life can be detrimental. I thank God for my husband who has made this dream possible of pursuing my passion for photography by buying me a computer and camera. I daily take photos for surf lessons, and often find myself clinging to the back of a jet ski for a tow-in surf excursion, or riding in our crazy surf van doing an island tour. Whatever we may be doing, you can guarantee that my camera will be connected to me. I thank God for the beautiful backdrops he has provided here on the North Shore of Oahu, and for the incredible weather he have here! I love our new home and can't wait to see what the future holds....
